Road to hana

Jämför priser och läs omdömen. Most visitors tend to zip to and from Hana with a checklist of sights to photograph. This is the wrong way to do it.

Do your due diligence beforehan decide on a few locations that look the most intriguing, and take your time at each location. The second stop after the Abbortum was where Sandi Banana bread is sold.

Halfway to Hana Stand. We did things differently and stayed in Hana for two nights, and I’m so glad we had more time in this beautiful area. When you combine the high volume of traffic with the narrow road conditions and sharp corners, this route can feel very uncomfortable to drive on.

Taking the road to Hana is a must do activity on Maui. Be safe on the Hana Highway. A tour of the famous Hawaiian Hana Highway will take you through the curvy road along the northeastern.

The entire route is in Maui County.

An angry Hana local can ruin your trip really quickly. The tours come in a variety of packages and give you the option to see a variety of stops, such as Ho’okipa, Keanae Penninsula, Pua’a Ka’a Falls, and—of course— Hana Town. It’s a 52-mile highway stretch with winding and narrow one-lane roads, so it requires full attention to navigate safely, so plan to make an entire afternoon of it.

Now that ‘Ohe’O Gulch is officially a part of Haleakala National Park. The easy walk to a lookout point rewards you with a view of streams and waterfalls that lead all the way to the ocean. Below the bridge, you can take a dip in the pools. The point of the drive is the scenery, not to get to Hana.

Frankly, there is no ‘end’ destination, you are enjoying the journey. Driving the road to Hana and seeing the sunrise at Haleakala are both day trips that shouldn’t be missed on your visit to Maui. Just plan ahead and remember, the road to Hana is about the journey, not the destination.

They are worth the extra effort. And what a journey it is! After mile marker 1 the road becomes Highway 36 and the mile markers start all over again at 0. Mile Marker 2: Twin Falls.

I was thinking that we should do the RTH early on in our trip, while our bodies are still adjusting from CST so getting up early will be easier.
